About Bahama Telescopic Arms

Bahama telescopic arms are essential hardware for supporting top-hinged bahama (also called Bermuda) shutters in their open position. These adjustable arms extend from 18 to 27 inches, allowing you to prop your bahama shutters at the optimal angle for shade, ventilation, and rain protection. Each arm is precision-milled from solid aluminum for lasting durability and corrosion resistance in outdoor environments.

How They Work

Bahama shutters are hinged at the top of the window opening and swing outward from the bottom. When open, telescopic arms hold the shutter at an angle, creating shade while still allowing air to flow through the louvers. The adjustable length lets you set different tilt angles depending on sun position and weather conditions. During storms, simply retract the arms and let the shutters close flush against the window for protection.

Installation

Each telescopic arm mounts between the wall surface above or beside the window and the bottom rail of the bahama shutter. Two arms are typically required per shutter -- one on each side. Pair these arms with our bahama lift-off hinges at the top for a complete installation. The unfinished aluminum can be left natural or painted to match your shutter color.

Durability and Materials

Built from milled aluminum, these telescopic arms resist corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments where steel hardware would quickly deteriorate. Aluminum is also significantly lighter than steel, reducing stress on the shutter frame and mounting hardware over time.
