Whether you are looking to replace an interior door, your front door, even the back door of your home; custom wood doors are perfect for any situation. Not sure where to begin with your rear entry? Check out our tips on how to choose a back door.

Custom Interior Doors

When it comes to interior doors the options are endless; barn doors, pocket doors, bi-fold, and standard doors just to name a few. Bi-fold doors are most commonly louvered or a paneled door that splits in the middle and folds out of the way, you typically see bi-fold doors on closets or other places that require a door and have little floor space.

Barn doors and Pocket doors are similar in that they slide along a track and can be the same style of door; such as paneled door, mission door, or barn doors. Other than that the similarities end there, barn doors typically slide along the exterior of the wall when in use, barn doors are very popular now and for good reason. Sliding barn doors are very stylish and save a ton of what could be valuable floor space. Pocket doors slide into the wall, these doors require a little more hardware than their counterpart barn doors and can also require more upkeep. Since pocket doors are encased into the wall their hardware is hidden and if and when something breaks it can be more expensive to fix.

Custom Front Door

Standard interior doors are the most common interior door we see on a daily basis. These types of doors consist of paneled doors, mission doors, French doors, louvered doors and what we call custom doors. Paneled doors are doors with raised or flat panels in between the rails and stiles, these are probably the most commonly seen interior door. French doors are great for dividing off a room or as an rear exit to a patio, French doors consist of glass panes that allow light to pass through. French doors are most commonly seen in sets of two on home offices and other areas of your home with large openings.

Custom Exterior Doors

Custom wood doors for entry ways are great for protecting the inside of your home from external elements whether it is weather or unwanted guests. Wooden exterior doors are great for both your front door and back door, with the front door being more elegant and decorative and the back door being more utilitarian yet still elegant. Custom front and back doors can be manufactured to fit your needs whether it is wood species, finishing, or glass panes; custom wood doors are also great insulators of both sound and exterior elements.

Selecting the Perfect Custom Wood Door

A well-chosen wood door does more than fill an opening; it sets the tone for an entire room or entryway. Interior doors influence how spaces flow together, while exterior doors establish the first impression of your home. When selecting a custom door, consider three primary factors: the architectural style of your home, the functional requirements of the opening, and the wood species that best complements your existing millwork.

For traditional and colonial homes, raised-panel doors with six or eight panels create a classic look. Contemporary and transitional homes lean toward flat-panel or Shaker-style doors with clean lines. Louvered doors are ideal for closets, laundry rooms, and utility spaces where airflow matters. French doors with glass panels open up sightlines between rooms while maintaining the ability to close off spaces for privacy or climate control.

Wood species matters both aesthetically and structurally. Red Oak and White Oak are among the hardest domestic species, making them excellent choices for high-traffic exterior doors. Mahogany offers superior dimensional stability and a rich grain pattern prized for front entries. For interior doors that will be painted, Poplar provides a smooth, affordable substrate. Estate Millwork builds every door using mortise-and-tenon joinery with hardwood dowel pins, ensuring joints that will not loosen over a lifetime of daily use.
